Procurement Workflow Platform on an ERP

A web app built during a summer internship at an industrial company to digitise purchase requests, approvals and purchase orders on top of its ERP database.

Procurement Workflow Platform on an ERP preview

Overview

During a summer internship at an industrial company, I built a full-stack procurement platform: a React interface for business users and an Express API that reads and writes the company's ERP data in SQL Server. It follows a purchase from the first internal request to the purchase order sent to the supplier.

The problem

Purchase requests were handled outside the ERP, with manual follow-up between requesters, buyers and management, and no shared view of request status, article stock or supplier contacts.

What I built

I built an Express API on SQL Server (mssql driver) with JWT authentication, bcrypt password hashing and email OTP verification at sign-up. Role guards separate admins, buyers, general management, requesters and storekeepers. Users create purchase requests from the article catalogue with live stock levels; buyers turn them into purchase requisitions (DA) with ERP metadata such as supplier, depot, taxes and delivery dates; approved requisitions become purchase orders (BC) with status tracking, and suppliers can be contacted by email from the app. The React front end uses Redux Toolkit, Material UI data grids, Formik and Yup.

Results

  • End-to-end flow from purchase request to approved purchase order, connected to the existing ERP database
  • Five user roles with route-level permissions
  • Searchable article, stock and supplier grids based on ERP data
  • Email OTP sign-up and transactional emails to suppliers

Highlights

  • Purchase request lifecycle: create, search, update, approve, refuse
  • Requisition (DA) to purchase order (BC) conversion with status tracking
  • Live stock levels and supplier relationships from SQL Server
  • JWT sessions in HTTP-only cookies and role-based guards
  • Lookup endpoints (depots, taxes, collaborators) for autocomplete fields

Let's build something great together

Whether you need a full-stack web app, a data dashboard, or a cloud-native deployment, I'd love to hear about it.
